Thread: Sun Belt gets new bowl game in Orlando vs. AAC

Default Sun Belt gets new bowl game in Orlando vs. AAC

Orlando will host a third college football bowl game at the Citrus Bowl, sources told the Orlando Sentinel.

The Orlando Sports Foundation, which originally pitched the Cure Bowl as a game that could be played at UCF’s Bright House Networks Stadium and would benefit breast cancer-related charities, will manage the new bowl. It will not be affiliated with the Florida Citrus Sports, which oversees Orlando’s Capital One Bowl and Russell Athletic Bowl.

The game is expected to match teams from the American Athletic Conference, UCF’s current league, and the Sun Belt. It will be played before the Russell Athletic Bowl in December and would not conflict with any potential College Football Playoff or national championship games Orlando hopes to host in the future.

Orlando is not a bad spot for another Bowl game for the Sun Belt. I would rather go there as opposed to Montgomery, AL.

Disney trip...not as good as a Nola trip...but for us parents it's killing two birds with one stone.

I want to go to this bowl only if we are representing the AAC.

I would go as well. The kids can careless about Cajun Football but Disney and Universal are another story. It think we would take at least 30,000.

Sweet! This is really great news for us now that the NOLA bowl will only invite Belt teams every 2/3 years. We'll have a guaranteed AAC opponent in a destination Cajun fans would actually want to travel to.

I'll give credit where credit is due. Nice job Benson.

And btw, this bowl drastically lowers our chances of ever having to play in the Belt's other tie in, the absurdly terrible Camellia Bowl which will be played in a run down 20,000 seat stadium.
