EXCLUSIVE: UL head coach Mark Hudspeth will make $950,000 plus benefits in his new extended contract: http://t.co/jlMklCRJHp_ #Cajuns
Total benefits over 1M. Boom
It is not the most-significant aspect of the deal. Salary and buyout terms take precedence there.
But it is notable indeed:
University of Louisiana football coach Mark Hudspeth's new contract extension has him sitting pretty as the highest-paid coach in the Sun Belt Conference, the league to which the Ragin' Cajuns belong.
University of Louisiana head football coach Mark Hudspeth will make $950,000 in combined base salary and "contingent premium benefits" this year, plus incentives and supplemental income, according to terms of his newly extended contract.
HUD deserves it. Now, university..., turn your attention to Robichaux.

Awesome buyout clause!!! Really nice job by UL to get that increased. The 1.25 million buyout all but guarantees no one outside the SEC or Big XII can touch him.
The buyout clause decreases rapidly after the first year. It is not an amount that would discourage a major program but should prevent a lateral move in the first year or two. Hopefully, with continued success the contract would be renegotiated again before the buyout drops lower than $750K
"That buyout figures drops annually to $1 million in 2015, $750,000 in 2016, $500,000 in 2017, $250,000 in 2018 and $0 in 2019."
