UL's Elijah McGuire expected to play many roles this fall

UL football coach Mark Hudspeth went into the spring wanting to find creative ways to get sophomore-to-be running back Elijah McGuire extra touches in the season to come.

It sounds like the Ragin’ Cajuns have come up with a dandy, and decidedly creative, way to do it.

Smart move by the coaches. This kid needs to be on the field a lot. Harris is so effective late in the games because he is much fresher and just grinding on defenders in the fourth quarter (WKU could attest to this). This kid needs to be in the flats catching passes and screens along with his normal running duties and this could open up things on the outside for our big receivers since they would likely have to play a safety closer to scrimmage to help with him.

Anyone remember Brian Mitchell? Elijah is the better athlete of the two. No disrespect to BM.

What QB talent do we have on the recruiting board? Unfortunately, I think a lot of this is a result of Haack and Nixon not panning out like originally thought. I do see a few freshman QB's on the roster.

Bernie Kosar (20 at Miami) and Heath Shuler (21 at Tennessee), other QBs other than Flutie with jersey numbers over 19. But yes, Flutie wore 22, just like Elijah.
