It should be obvious to everyone that the admin. is simply scared to rock the boat with the name issue. They probably think that one of our very own would be the first one to report us to the State if we did try something. You know.....what's her name, that freakin' @#%*@!
.
People tend to recognize "Ragin Cajuns", but have no effing clue just who in the heck these Ragin Cajuns are.
We confuse the issue beyond recognition with our silly name games.
We want to be known as UL or Louisiana. Right?....and we want to do it in a way that doesn't break the law or irritate our very own Gladys Kravitz.
Our approach has to be uniform, pardon the pun, meaning every sport uses the same logo as their main calling card, and it can't be "Ragin Cajuns".
The obvious answer is the interlocking UL on the baseball caps. It should also be on the helmets. We can do this and hide the city tag so that Gladys is happy and nobody sees it from the stands. They should see a big, fat UL on the helmets and the ball caps.
It is my understanding that we can also use just the word LOUISIANA as well. This should be placed in bigger letters on the front of the football jersey and on most baseball and basketball uniform jerseys.
You gettin' the picture?
We market ourselves completely bass ackwards. Ragin Cajuns is great, but it needs to take a backseat now as our name crisis needs to be resolved.
Bottom line is we can't have it both ways. We can't continue to plaster Ragin Cajuns and the flaming vegetable on every GD thing we sell and think it furthers our identity. It does not.
If we want to be known as UL or LOUISIANA, then that is what we have to plaster on everything, and there is a perfectly legal way to do it.
