  UL - The Lady Cajuns soccer team is set to host a holiday skills camp. There are three separate camps that run from December 29-31st. The first camp on December 29th is dedicated to shooting. The December 30th camp will focus on passing and receiving. The December 31st camp will focus on dribbling, speed & agility and goalkeeping. Each camp costs $25.00 and runs from 9am until 12 pm. All camps will be held at the Ragin’ Cajuns soccer complex. Details for each camp are below along with other camp info such as insurance and the camp staff. Registration deadline is December 26th, there is a $10.00 fee for walk-ups.

December 29
Shooting Camp
Camp will run from 9am-12pm
Cost is $25.00

The shooting camp will focus on the individual development and technical breakdown of all aspects of shooting. We will focus on the technique of striking a ball, power shooting, and accuracy and placement of the shot.

December 30
Passing & Receiving Camp
Camp will run from 9am-12pm
Cost is $25.00

The passing & receiving camp will focus on the developmental breakdown of all different types of serving styles, including long balls, bent balls, and simple passing. The second half of this day will focus on the technical breakdown of receiving the ball, including chest, thigh, and foot.

December 31
Dribbling/Speed & Agility/Goalkeeping
Camp will run from 9am-12pm
Cost is $25.00

The Dribbling/Speed & Agility/Goalkeeping Camp will look at another aspect of soccer including footwork associated with soccer, technique in dribbling, and the goalkeeping aspect of soccer. Players will be broken down into either field or goalkeeper positions. This day will include an intense speed, agility, and a technical session that is based on your position.

All Camp Info:

Campers will be broken down into small person groupings by age and ability to work on specific skills associated with each day. Boys and girls of all ages and abilities are encouraged to sign up.


Facilities:

Camp will be held on the Ragin’ Cajun Soccer Field, located within the track, at the corner of Bertrand and Reinhart Dr. In the event of rain, or extreme cold weather, sessions will be held at the new Ragin’ Cajun indoor complex.


Insurance:

Camp participants are covered by a supplemental accident insurance policy. For more information contact 1-800-257-7177.

Camp Instructors are composed of Ragin’ Cajun coaching staff, players, and other college and university coaches.

  The Lady Cajuns soccer team recently returned from a three day weekend in Pensacola Beach Florida. The three day trip included matches vs. the University of Mobile in Alabama and the University of West Florida.

Along with the soccer matches over the weekend the team prepared numerous meals and participated in several team bonding exercises.

“It was an incredible weekend; we really came together as a team. We learned more about each other,” said coach Scot Wieland. “We learned who has cooking skills and who doesn’t, who can make the best sand sculpture and we showed that we are capable of playing some great soccer. The weekend was very successful and I could not have been happier with the overall results from the trip”.

Wieland added, “I know that the team is looking forward to the trip again next spring.”

  UL – Head soccer coach Scot Wieland has announced that his staff and soccer players will be offering three free soccer clinics over the next three Monday’s. The camps will run from 5:30-6:30 p.m. and will be held at Moore Park each night.

The dates for the clinics are March 16, 23 and 30.

Come and learn from the highest level coaches and players in Acadiana.

 - Louisiana’s Lady Cajuns soccer team is poised to play in the second annual Louisiana College Cup March 21st. All matches will be held at Moore Park and each match will run forty minutes. There will be five different Louisiana teams participating.

In addition to UL; McNeese State, Louisiana Tech, Nicholls State and Northwestern State will all compete.

The Lady Cajuns will play every team in the tournament.

The schedule is as follows:

11:00 a.m. – McNeese State

1:00 p.m. – Louisiana Tech

3:00 p.m. – Nicholls State

4:00 p.m. – Northwestern State
