UL - The Louisiana Lady Cajuns Soccer Team will wrap up their 2008 season this Friday at 7 p.m. when they host ULM. The Lady Cajuns will say good-bye to eight seniors who will see their careers conclude after Friday’s game.
Louisiana, 4-12-2, this year will look to end the season on a high note. UL holds a 3-1-2 advantage against the Warhawks. The Lady Cajuns are 2-0-1 against them at home.
ULM is 4-12-1 on the season and 1-8-1 in SBC play. Their one win is against North Texas. They are winless in their last eight games.
The Cajuns will say thank you to the following eight seniors for their dedication to the UL program; Dannae DeVahl, Heather Fuller, Taunya Geelhoed, Jenn Hungate, Callie Oliver, Erika Saffer, Heather ULiman and Stephanie Weston.
DeVahl, a defender, has appeared in 55 matches in her career. She has two goals on two shots in her four years at UL. DeVahl has been named to the Sun Belt Conference Commissioner’s list in 2006, 2007 and 2008.
Fuller, a forward, has appeared in 37 matches in her two years at UL. She is a transfer from Lon Morris Junior College. In her two years she has ten points on three goals and four assists.
Geelhoed, a defender, is one of the Cajuns two captains on the year. She has appeared in 74 matches in her four years, which is third all-time in UL history. She has 17 points in her career coming off seven goals and three assists. Three of her seven goals were match winners. Geelhoed was named to the All-Louisiana team in 2006. She has also been a member of the Sun Belt Conference Commissioner’s list in 2006, 2007 and 2008.
Hungate, a defender, has appeared in 59 matches during her time at UL. She has one goal and two assists in her career. Her lone goal was a match winner against South Alabama in the 2007 season. Hungate has been a member of the Sun Belt Conference Academic Honor Roll in 2006 and 2008.
Oliver, a forward, was the other captain of this year’s team. She was a pre-season Sun Belt All-conference player this season. She has played in 74 matches in her career which is third most all-time in school history. She has 31 points in her four years stint at UL. Oliver has scored 12 goals which ranks second in UL history. She also has tallied seven assists in her career. She is the Universities all time leader in match winning goals. Oliver has been a member of the Sun Belt Conference Academic Honor Roll in 2006, 2007 and 2008.
Saffer, a defender, has appeared in 75 matches for the Cajuns in her career. Her 75 appearances are second most all-time in UL history. In four years as a Cajun she has posted six goals and two assists to give her 14 points in her career. Saffer has been a member of the Sun Belt Commissioner’s list in 2006, 2007 and 2008.
Ulliman, a midfielder, has played in 52 matches as a member of the Ragin’ Cajuns. She has nine points in her four years at Louisiana. She has four goals and one assist. She was a member of the Sun Belt Conference Academic Honor Roll in 2008.
Weston, a goalkeeper, has appeared in 56 matches for the Cajuns. She leads most statistical categories for a goalie. She is first all-times in saves with 257. She is the school’s all-time leader in shutouts with 11. She is tied with Kristen Malen for most career wins with 16. She is also third in career goals-against-average. She was named to the All-Louisiana team in 2006. She has also been a member of the Sun Belt Conference Commissioner’s List in 2006, 2007 and 2008.
