A team of University of Louisiana Engineering students placed second in the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Region 5 robotics competition.
LeTourneau University of Longview, Texas, earned first place and LSU placed third. The competition was held Saturday in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Teams built robots that could weigh no more than 50 pounds. The robots had to be able to identify a mock oil rig fire on a small playing field and then “extinguish” the fire.
UL team members included: Trey Aucoin, a senior majoring in electrical engineering; Ross Hartley, a senior majoring in electrical engineering; Jared Adam Jansenn, a senior-level student in the Electrical and Computer Engineering program; and Caleb James Pellerin, a senior-level student in the Electrical and Computer Engineering program.
