Don't assume that any of these athletes were not offered. That would be a false assumption on your part. Wilford Journet was placed in JC by Auburn, he doesn't have any chance of making into any major insitution. His academics were terrible and didn't gradaute on time. He was offered an opportunity to enroll at UL and work on his academics, he chose to go to JC. Keiland Willliams and the same offer, he was sent to prep school and it was paid for by someone with deep pocket books.
UL has offered every single top athlete in the area this year and you can go down the list.
Rickey Johnson-offered
Jordan James-offered
Andrew Hebert-offered
Marcus Wiltz-offered
Robert Walker-offered
Deon Anthony -no offer yet 16 ACT
Troy Godfrey -no offer yet 15 ACT
Louis Hollier-no offer yet 15 ACT
Jacarde Carter- no offer yet, Qualified(following)
Seth Standsberry-no offer yet, Qualified(following)
Michael Lamothe- offered
These are just to name a few, no athlete that is a BCS prospect is not going to sign with UL for the most part.
At the risk of looking nieve, who is Clint Conque??
I agree. These people that always holler about bringing in "local" kids or the talented ones don't understand that we usually offer every one of them at some point. There is also the fact that LSU and the SEC schools in Ms. are usually on them anyway. It is hard for us to compete with these guys until we start winning. That is why you don't usually hear about our interest in these prospects but we are on them.
also, asst. coach at st. tom more in mid-'80's. left to be ast. coach at mcneese for father-in-law, head coach, sonny jackson. quite successful at c. ark. was on the list when bustle was hired. has a ul connection with the trahan family of laf. motors. got oldest son, todd, a football scholarship to mcn. was a decent guy. been out of touch for 20 years.
