In celebration of the release of “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” and in the spirit of heroism, Marvel and Skype partnered to make something meaningful. Skype and its employees have raised funds to give a heroic 10-year-old Ugandan orphan named Kasiita Ben the educational tools he needs. Kasiita came to Skype’s attention because of students at George Street Middle School in New Brunswick, Canada. They’ve long been meeting with Kasiita and other Ugandan children over Skype as part of CHAT to the Future, a Skype in the classroom partner. CHAT is a nongovernmental organization that pays for rent, necessities and school fees for 17 orphans rescued from poverty and illiteracy in Kampala, Uganda. Students in over 40 North American schools are using Skype to establish meaningful relationships with their Ugandan friends, including helping to fund their living and learning needs.
