    Just my opinion. _
That would be great and simple way to start getting out of this whole. They could also ask the alumni to give. I would but I'm not until I see the school is really serious about football.
Hey what happened to my anit-kool aid avatar?

Is it pure coincidence that you've reawakened (posts per week) in parallel with a bunch of negative talk about football?

Your comment is sort of strange... It would be "great" to add costs to students and "other alumni", but you aren't going to give until you "see" the school is "really" serious about football.

"I'm not going to help this thing take flight until I see it flying". "I'm not planting a seed, working the soil or tending to the orchard until the fruit is plentiful". "I'm not participating until someone else has broken their back for me, making a nice soft, clean place to sit and enjoy the view".

I'm frustrated over the football situation... but the idea of holding back and letting others do the work and pay the costs is extremely small... oh, but I hope you get your avatar back.

It is the same old Catch 22. Continue to contribute and the university proceeds like business as usual and nothing changes. One option is continue to contribute in hope that changes do eventually happen. Another is for the masses to not show up and not contribute in protest to unacceptable management of UL athletics and football in particular to hopefully make the university take notice and force change. We all agree that change must occur. Some will respond one way and others the other way. It is time for UL to roll out its announcements about changes that will be taking place with the RCAF, stadium improvements, etc. to re-energize the faithful who are once again demoralized by this dreadful start to the season. That might greatly influence the option they choose.

Look the schools in the Sunbelt who do assess student fees for athletics charge $150 per semester.

Backing off of funding and fan participation does nothing to help. The money isn't that excessive and the fans aren't "showing up in masses" anyway. The legacy of UL administration has proven that we can have almost no fans, a disgruntled fan core, very little money and still they pass by Cajun Field on Saturday with a smile on their face.

The key to getting this program turned around isn't to stage a sit-out. That would get the Daily Advertiser to put us on the front page, but it would not assist UL football. We need to get in the face of the UL admin and let them know we do not want them to live happily in Lafayette until we get what we want out of Cajun football.

There isn't a single thing that bothers them about a losing Cajun football program right now. They still get their paycheck. They still do the same thing 7 days a week. They do not allow Cajun football to affect their lives. Life as usual for them in Lafayette. So what is the answer? Speak to them. Write to them. Tell them what you think. Somewhere, buried behind their "happy as we are" lives, has to live some pride. Just maybe we can get to it. I see nothing else making a difference.

A legacy of successful athletics program cuts off funding or has "masses not showing up"... and that bothers the admin... and changes have to be made.

Why do you believe that "our" admin would ever do anything substantially different when money for athletics and numbers of fans were never a priority to them in the first place?

    Default Bustle Out?

Heard a rumor that Jeff Bower (formerly of Southern Miss) will be named Head Football Coach at ULL at the end of the season. Any truth to that?

Great first post. I also heard a rumor that T-Boone Pickens has given up on Petroleum and has invested in a $300 million research facility to be built on campus. Seems Swamp gas is to power the "New" economy. I read it on the Internet so it must be true.
