Absolutely unacceptable.

You will hear no argument from me on the issue of changing directions with the program. It should have happenned last season.
Still, I refuse to give up on the season due to 1 game. You shouldn't either.
I want to look like the stupidest person on earth for suggesting we switch coaches. You should too.
It is more important for UL to win than for us to be right.
If we are halfway through conference and the results are still putrid, then by all means, start a million threads on who the next coach will be. Heck, I'll have one too. But don't start this after one week.
Can we still have a winning season?
Can we still win the conference championship?
Can we still go to a bowl game?
Yes, Yes, and Yes.
Look. We lost 21-51 to USM.
In 1994, we lost to USM 20-43. We also went 6-5 that year and were Big West Co-Champs and missed going to a bowl game due to a tiebreaker.
In 1996, we lost to USM 27-52. We also went 5-6 that year and beat Texas A&M with the toughest schedule in school history.
Is it likely? No. But the season's not over.
And really, like I said to a friend last night, we all know what's coming at the end of the year barring some miracle run where we win 8 or 9 games and a big bowl game. The new president and AD will get to pick "their" guy and we'll be starting over again, hopefully this time with some big backing from the RCAF to go with facilities upgrades. So let's just enjoy what we can this year - like Fenroy becoming the all-time leading rusher for the Cajuns - and savor the wins we get. Not really much need to get too high or low with what we do this year. As far as I'm concerned, it's about watching individuals. The rest is lagniappe.
Does anyone know why it is taking so dang long to get this RCAF started??
Somebody pretty in-the-know said they're waiting for a few signatures on the dotted lines to make some monetary things final and make a big splash when they announce. That's literally everything I know though. I'm anxious for it to get rolling and to hear some specifics.
There's that.
And do we really want to fund the program on the backs of our students?
NO! We should build this f'er ourselves!!!
Bustle's our coach now and I'll give him my support. That said, do I think he'll be here next year? Probably not. But I don't think it is fair to him (or the players for that matter) to start this 24/7 biich-fest until a change is made.
And does anyone really think that s-tcanning him in the middle of the season would foster any better a result?
Game 1 may be an aberration, then again, it may not. At this point, we really don't know.
Remember how good everyone felt after Game 1 last season? Remember how that played out?
As soon as the last second ticks and the book on this season is closed, I will trust that the administration will make the right decision.
Until then, I'm going to enjoy the hell out of watching the best damm running back this school (and this conference) has ever seen.
And that is all I care to say about this subject.
Most successful programs have this type of funding used as supplemental funds to help with their budgets. This little fee can add 5 or 6 million in working capital for our athletic budget which for years was running at about 7 million/year. I'm all in favor of it. This is the type of attitude that will never allow this program to flourish. Don't make the students pay for it, make the rich alumni or some other body out there fund the athletic network. The students are the lifeline of the university. By assessing a small fee in the tuition for each semester, you can boost your budget big time. If they had offered this when I was a student, I would have gladly paid it.
