Interesting. This AM Stevie P. said he would prefer not to see us host, because we usually get a 14-16 seed when we do, so if we advance we get one of the top three teams in the country in a super.

If we could stay in the middle of the 1-16 pack, that would be awesome. If we could climb higher than 9, we might get a regional and a super...

Our SOS this year is solid, wish we could have won a few more early but if we find a way to sweep USA this weekend and keep winning we could very well be in position to get a national seed

A sweep would be great, a series win would do just fine, taking only 1 of 3 is crucial and being swept.....well, that would suck. I guess the same could be said about any series, but this is a huge weekend at Lamson Park if you're looking into May and seeding for the NCAA Tournament.

You are right about our SOS. We've played some great OOC teams thus far and South Al and WKU playing quality schedules and winning really helps as well.

The upcoming games against USA, McNeese & Baylor will go a long way in cementing a spot in the top 8 National Seeds.

Don't hold your breath in anticipation of a national seed. While these 6 games are important, it's more important for our opponents to keep winning at the 60-70% clip they have been doing the last two weeks. Even then, I have no faith that this selection committee will place us ahead of any BCS (yes, I still call them that) team. Right now, there are about 9 teams I think the selection committee will have a built in bias to place ahead of us, but there's a lot of games left to play, so we'll see what happens.

We're not in the top 8 in the nation right now. We're not even in the top 16. When we were the 4th best team in America, we were a 13 seed. Math sucks, but that's reality.

Poll ranking doesn't matter. Our RPI rank wasn't #4 I can tell you that much. While we did get snubbed if we find ourselves around 6 or 7 in RPI at the end of the year this year we will have a legit chance. If we're around 8 or 9 like we are now then no it ain't happening.

Our RPI shot up this week because we played WKU who had a nice record. USA is even better, a sweep over them would be all kinds of huge and even though we might only be "ranked" around 15th our RPI could be even higher, like top 8 higher (which is what will matter in the end)

That's what I understand on the matter, at least

Sad truth is, Cajuns look to have a better shot right now at getting a national seed than they did the year they were ranked #4 in the country. And it's all because of the schedule.

We are in the top 16 as far as RPI. We're #9. Even if we don't get a national seed it would definitely be nice to stay in the 7-10 range.

Our rpi shot up because our non-conference opponents had a 70% winning percentage on the week, which is 50% of the rpi formula. Beating WKU helped, beating USA will also be very helpful, and while this team does need to handle it's business, our fate will have more to do with what others do than what we do.

Thanks. We understand how the RPI formula works. Don't need you attempting to explain things on every other softball thread.
