Y'know, we need to start doing that again. We've brought in OkState, Bama, Texas Tech, A&M, Minnesota in the past... but it's been a few years since we did that.

Might be something to bring up with the Admin, but I would hope they are already looking at it.

If Jindal doesn't open up contra-flow out of NO this weekend, see you guys Saturday.

If he does, don't know what we'll do.

I understand Alcorn and SLU are not as expensive as a Boise St. but using your earlier posted explanation, you didn't get a dime off the game at Boise last season.

Whereas, D1a UL potentially (at least before this storm talk) brings 4000 fans. It seems like those kinds of numbers would more than justify a home and home series with us. If the issue is "competitiveness" on the field, you'll see us moving up in that area from here on.

There's no sense in talking about games against us without return games but if both programs were trying to make a series of say 4 games happen over the next 8-10 years, it could probably be worked out.

I knew about the BCS deals USM has. It's similar to Middle Tenn's scheduling lately. I also see MT as well as Ark St have future deals with Memphis St.

Not to mention CUSA programs Houston, UCF and UAB in recent years and UTEP this season.

I wouldn't object doing a 2 for 1 series until you guys. If you improve and start having winning seasons and going to bowl games, then we could talk about a home and home series.

I don't get it, are you scared to come over here and lose to an unimproved team?

What's the difference to you between an Alcorn or Southeastern La and Boise St. (who you play at home this season) in terms of game day profits? Both Alcorn and Southeastern are likely to bring more fans to your place and buy more concessions than Boise.

What other nonBCS OOC programs like Boise St. do you project bringing in under your 3rd and 4th scenarios below?

1 money game against a national power
1 home game with no return against IAA or lower-tier IA
1 home and home series with mid-level BCS program
1 home and home with an upper-tier non-BCS program _

Boise is a nationally recognized team, although not bcs, and that helps keep you on the map. There are no other non bcs teams on the agenda other than Southeastern, Jackson State, McNeese, all of which agree to one and done. The other games are bcs programs either one for one or two for one at which time the non bcs one and done will be the filler game at home. Thats the usm gameplan, others need to devise their own.

Same reason we don't play AT Jackson State, or AT Alcorn, or AT Southeastern LA. It would make us look small-time by signing a home and home with a small time school.

Let's not get crazy with the "small time" stuff. We're not a BCS team, but we're a D1 opponent who can play with you and are within driving distance for fans of both teams. Home and home games could be the start of a nice little rivalry.

If I'm not mistaken, we have Ok. State coming to us next year along with road games at Nebraska and LSU. Yet, USM feels it is below them to come to us??? WOW.

No, no, no. You dont understand. We dont feel it is below us to come to Lafayette, its the fact that we want HOME games. Get that through your skull, HOME GAMES. We have heavy hitters and advertizers to satisfy. The more home games the more exposure for advertizers and more the deep pockets can enjoy their suites. The Ark State matchup, home and home, is a quirk and is going away after this year. They are being replaced in the immediate future by Kansas, Virginia, or Nebraska AND lower division teams who will come with no return game. Now, ask yourself this question, if you had your choice of usm, virginia, nebraska, or kansas whom would you select? You would choose any of those over usm and we WOULDNT BLAME YOU A BIT.
