I went to the last Tulane USM game in the Superdome. Regardless of it being at the Superdome it was a home game for the Eagles, and they played accordingly. They had Tulane punting on 3rd down in the 3rd quarter and there were at least 5 times more USM than Tulane fans.

Yes, we've had the same experience with the Greenies.

I agree with most of everyones reasons for a home and home series...UL vs. USM, it is a close drive and a good atmosphere at both stadiums. Hattiesburg is a fun college town (except for the bars closing at midnight), and USM is a beautiful campus. One problem i found with Hattiesburg is the lack of hotels. Three weeks ago i started looking for a hotel room and had little success finding one. Lafayette is in the process of building up to 15 new hotels in the area, maybe Hattiesburg should look into doing the same.

You went to the wrong bar my friend. Last call in Hattiesburg is 2 am on weekends. Within 5 years Southern Miss will have a hotel on campus. There are several hotels going up in the surrounding areas.

Thats good to hear byxeagle. It has been a few years since i've been to h-burg. My sister used to live there while her husband was getting his phd at usm, also have a neice that was born there so hattiesburg is in my family. I remember going to a bar that called last call at 11:45 and i was shocked, the bar was full of people too. Also good to hear hotels are going up. UL already has a hilton garden inn on campus, directly across from cajun field, so when usm returns the favor you can stay across from the stadium. How's that for convenience!

Awesome. Well the on campus hotel won't be available most likely on gamedays. My understanding is that for convience visiting sports teams will have the first opportunity to book as many rooms as they want. It won't be a publicly owned hotel it will be run by the alumni association so it will be a little smaller. Hope to see some Cajun fans today.

You must have waited too late, the Burg has a lot of motels but they are reserved well ahead of time during football season. No worry though, no way usm can line up a one and one with the Cajuns. It would mean us giving up a one and one with teams like Kansas, Virginia, etc to create an opening and it wont happen. If the Peppers want to come to usm annually, no return, to offset our 2-1 setup with teams like Nebraska then come on over.
