Pretty cool. They didn't change their mascot though, did they?? It sort of looks like an otter's head.
I can't even lie, that is fonky at first glance. It looks like the cat has a very small neck. Better than the red blob at WKU though
I'm with Nocajun, it looks like an otter.
Look out for the South Alabama Rabid Otters!!
I thought it looked familiar.
You think that the Jacksonville Jaguars might have a problem with it? Trademark infringement.
I know that Penn State is a lion, but......
Do those dudes ever come over here?
For years, I have wanted to suggest a different mascot for them. A fierce, nasty animal with deep roots (pun intended) in the South.
Fire Ants are relatives of wasps and hornets. It turns out that there are two species of Fire Ants in the South, Solenopsis invicta (red) and Solenopsis richterei (black).
BOTH of them came into the US through the Mobile harbor, in different years.
And the person who discovered this, is none other than Pulitzer prize winning Harvard biologist E.O. Wilson...
...who happens to be an Alabama boy.
How about "The Rose of Alabama" on their helmets.
