Yobes Walker

Looking at the depth chart that is dated 8-25-2008, Yobes Walker is not listed in the chart as number 2 behind Fenroy. They list Undre Sails as number 2 and Walker is not listed in the top 3. Anything to make of this????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Coach Bustle said it was because Yobes "hit a wall" in the offense. Coach said he expected it. He still spoke very highly of him.
One nice little tidbit, Undre Sails is still not cleared to play yet.

He is listed on the roster chart but not the depth chart. Hopefully someone can clear this up. I have seen him practice and he looked pretty good.

The proverbial wall he's hitting is a mental one. He's having trouble picking up blitz packages and blocking assignments. Sails is listed as 2 but he's not even cleared. They are redshirting Booker so Yobes will likely end up in the mix. I wouldn't make too much out of it yet...

Yobes and Shankle will back Fenroy up. Yobes will be limited in his first action to certain formations, but will play. As someone has stated, Sails has not been given the clearence to play in the season opener.

Two deep roster. Pretty standard.

USM does not have that stud receiver they got from Meridian (because he was too dumb for State) on their two deep.

He can practice because he completed his course work. He can't play until the JC he was at posts his grade.

Who the hell put a wall in the offense? Is this some kind of new conditioning drill?

I don't mean to sound mean but do people not understand that these are guys coming out of high school that need time to learn a playbook, to add weight and strength and get to a point they are ready to play? Give them some space. It will all work out. Some guys pick it up faster then others. Ask any coach....these kids come to their first Fall practice like deer in headlights. Doesn't mean they are not great players, perhaps a couple of games in it will click and they'll be off. As far as the clearinghouse goes...rules are rules and all players must meet them so there must be a reason for the delay. They'll get it all worked out.

T, I thought Shankle was going to be out for the year? I saw him in the last scrimmage and couldn't understand since I had heard on more than one occasion that the ankle injury was going to keep him out....

I agree with missingmandy. Yobes seems physically ready, but come on... He's probably had the play book since early August. I'd feel alot better knowing he's on the bench right now rather than him miss a blitz pickup and have Dez blind sided!!!! I'm excited about this guy. I think he's coming along just fine. And according to his grades in high school he'll have no problem with the mental aspect of the game.
