Did we not learn anything from delaying the renovations at the Tigue? Granted we will have a much nicer stadium, but come on you do not wait until you need it.

also with the new point system that i assume will be in place shortly, id rather get all seating configurations done early.

if we wait and renovate in 5-6 years and have to p!$$ off alot of people, i would rather only do that once.

Maybe my problem is with the theory of what conferences are looking for in a school. So a school with a bigger stadium, which would be more empty seats every weekend, is more attractive than a little bit smaller stadium that is mostly full? I just don't get that thought process.

We can't CONSISTENTLY fill our stadium more than 60-75% so in my opinion we have lots of room for growth just to fill what we currently have. Do the renovations to the stadium because I agree a facelift needs to be done, no argument from me there. After several years of filling the stadium then look at bowling in the other end zone, look at a new upper deck on student side, etc....

I wouldn't build expand my office by 25% plus, hoping my business grows, when I have plenty of excess space at the moment.

Why do we keep saying a bigger stadium. Our UL Media Guide says our stadium seats 41,426, so that would including seating on the grassy area. Tearing down the upper deck and building a smaller upper deck and a small upper deck on the east side plus bowling the stadium will not seat more than the 41,426. That is about the perfect size for us at this point. We can enlarge later if/when needed. In the meantime, the stadium gets all of the needed enhancements we are all talking about. That will help to get us into a better conference, which in turn will increase fan appeal, attendance and revenue. We aren't building for where we are but where we want to be.

I don't think the stadium upgrade has anything to do with increased seating capacity. It has to do with new suites, new club areas, new press facilities, new administration and support space for all of the sports using the athletic complex areas, and overall fan experience improvement. Any seating increase/decrease is incidental. JMO

i think we are in the same place. im not sure anyone here is saying build the east upper at the same time as the west upper.

in regards to a new conference, i hope they wouldnt look at it like that. i assume (maybe incorrectly) that if we were to move into a better conference, say AAC, we would see an uptick in season ticket sales along with general admission as we would have better competition to play against than we do now in the sunbelt.
the whole argument of people should go to see the cajuns play more than the opponent falls on deaf ears with me. there's a reason that when the LSU's or Florida's or Oklahoma's of the world play top competition the attendance is higher than when they play FCS. whatever gets the fans in the stadium, im fine with, but they better be wearing red and pulling for the cajuns.

I dont wont 65,000 in two or three years, but if re-doing the west upper and bowling in the north endzone gets us to around 45,000, i say do it now.

Well put. We keep getting hung up on capacity, when IMHO it's more about modernizing and getting the best 40-45K cap stadium we can....which we could do with both new UD's and bowling in the NEZ.
When we need to increase beyond that, build UD's around the rest of it.

question: all renderings we have seen have an upper deck with press box/suites on top. is it just way to expensive to have the pressbox/suites and club level over hang the lower bowl, and have the upper deck on top of that. (like alot of pro stadiums and lsu, alabama, etc)

if we are tearing down the upper to completely rebuild, has that option been looked at. Cajun field has one of the highest pressboxes/suits in the country. from that third story up there it is a long way down.

0----Remember there is a 7 story building that will be attached to the existing stadium and new upper deck!!!

That is what I was trying to portray but in a different light than the way you put it.

For the record, if our stadium capacity now is 41,XXX then I would have no problem keeping it at this number even if we consistently sold out for a couple of years. Make sure its sustainable then look at adding seats. People want to be a part of something that feels exclusive or not open to everyone. Ice Gators were a perfect example of this, sure they had great years and it was entertaining but it was sold out on a consistent basis. People wanted to go to the games because having tickets felt exclusive. This wasn't everyone's thoughts but it was for a lot of people.

Update, modernize and put more butts in the seats. Only winning can do the latter.

Nothing to my knowledge, but I do not know everything, I just think I do.
