Now we just need to get over that hump on the field. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. _

    Thats everything.

I agree Z, that is everything. When the recruits start taking notice to what we've got down here, I feel like the quality of players will improve as well.

    Default Cajun Field

UL Football Historians - When was the 1st year Cajun Field was used? I am asking because I am looking at an unused ticket book from 1970 that has references to Cajun Field. But looking RaginCajuns.com and Wikipedia, both sites claim to have the 1st games played in the 1971 season.

Was the field not ready for the 1970 season?

The plan was to play the last 4 games of the 70 season at Cajun field. The team photo (with an unpainted field but finished stadium was taken there) but I can't find any pictures of a 1970 game at the Swamp.

A preseason article stated it was going to be ready for the last 4 games of the season.

Another article stated it would be ready for the Sept 23rd game against Santa Clara. I don't have the time I used to, to go to Dupre Library and look at microfiche, so I haven't dug up any in season articles on the games that year.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if the completion date ran a bit long, but compared to the new softball stadium it seems like all they had to do was snap their fingers and it was done.

There are posters here who played that year, they would know when the first game was played, even if it was the year after they left. I hope they see your question.

I am fairly confident first game was against Santa Clara in September of 1971. Cajuns won by a score of 21 to 0

Believe it or not, I have 2 fully intact season ticket booklets from the 1970 season. My grandparents were season ticket holders. I'll try to post some pics for you guys.

Does your season ticket booklet have references to Cajun Field also?

Yes it does. The story I heard was that they bought the tickets because of the new stadium, but didn't use the tickets because the team played at McNaspy.
