Probably would not happen, but if it did I would not be in least bit surprised with him doing it.
That wouldn't surprise me either; he has been a terrific ambassador for our university.

There are 30 teams in the NBA. He is "projected" at #22. There is a chance he doesn't get picked in the first round. Also, there are other players who haven't yet declared, and that could also impact where he gets drafted. Getting picked in the first round is not a given. What happens if he declares and gets selected in the 2nd round? It is a tough decision for him to make.

It would really suck if he got drafted #31.

Are you trying to make a point in there? Or just repeating what I said? I don't get it

Not really. He'll still get a 3yrguaranteed contract that's pretty close to 1 mil per season.

I thought only 1st round draft picks got guaranteed money? Am I wrong? 30 teams, drafted 31, seems to be second round by my calculations.

Yeah that's the rule. But with few if any exceptions teams will still offer the high second rounders 3 yr guaranteed contracts too.

There are several teams that pick at the bottom of the first round that have stated they will take him if he is there. Now all Payton can do is get the most up-to-date informantion as possible and its still a gamble. Most draft sites have athletes projected in the first round that have not delcared yet, so it works both ways. My sources say he is almost certain to go in the draft.
