This is their plan to get a foothold back in Acadiana after they lost the University Medical Center.

I would expect their opening stance to be this is a "political non-starter" they are still reeling from the embarrassment.

UL getting a med school would be ultimate shame from their point lf view.

Everyone else would see it as simple geography.

Something tells me they'll end up putting it right next to UMC.

It would be fun to bust all the LSU fans ball's when they talk football.

Imagine the outrage every time they mention how much better they are in football (or any sport) than we are and we can reply "LSU-Lafayette doesn't have a football team?! What are you talking about??"

---Something tells me that T-Joe just got a deal in that the city will help pay for the Lourdes property because it would add to the """ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT""" of the city/parish/Acadiana area---a little payback from the horse farm possibly

I see it as economic benefit to the area, but doesn't UL own Lourdes? They are building an LSU med school on UL property. I don't agree with this move even though to get along you have to go along sometimes.

UL needs found out how to play it right and be a UL only med school, and pull the rug out from LSU.

UL does not own the Lourdes property. The university is very much interested in acquiring it, but there's an issue with the diocese as well apparently.

Law school plus med school = manipulation and control of lawmaking

...''Henry VI,'' Part II, act IV, Scene II, Line 73.

UL is working on buying the property to include the buildings eventually, but the parishes depend on the rent that is another sticking point. Hopefully UL can work out something to change ownership but pay rentals till the buildings are paid for to the church, something like that might work.

If it belongs to LSU, shoot it down.

  10. Default State Treasurer: "LA needs another med. school"

Today at the Rotary Club, State Treasurer, John Kennedy spoke about plans for a medical school right here in Lafayette.

"It's clear to me that we need a new medical school in Louisiana" State Treasurer John Kennedy said as he spoke to a full house at the Rotary Club about the possibility of a new medical school.

Why does it have to be run by LSU, I am sure UL is more than capable to run a med school. If the Lourdes complex is taken by LSU I will be very unhappy. It would let the enemy in our back yard. If Southern can run a law school then UL is more than capable to run a Med school.

Think it's time to send Mr. Kennedy an e-mail.

I think the community should reject the idea of having an LSU school in Lafayette. All UL supporters should let it be known that this is unacceptable. If the community needs a med school, it should be run by UL.
