Sometimes we have to put the ole "I hate LSU" stuff down and this is one of those moments. This is a great opportunity for UL and Lafayette as whole, whether LSU is involve or not. Just think of the opportunity this community will have. Lets be honest, Lafayette whips Baton Rouge in almost anything you can think of in regards to how a community acts and treats its own and visitors, and what it has to offer culturally. If I am a med student and giving the choice, I'm coming study in Lafayette as oppose to the Big Raggety. JMO.
Pike, just heard the interview. Whats the real scoop?

LSU med schools are currently located in New Orleans and Shreveport. No medical school in Baton Rouge. Lafayette would be an excellent geographical location for a third medical school.
Far from a done deal. Still a lot of issues to overcome. But the infrastructure for a school already exists here as third- and fourth-year students come to Lafayette in many cases to learn at LGMC and UHC.
Number one employer in terms of people employed: healthcare.
Number one in terms of payroll: oil and gas.
---And Rick also a perfect time for the Lturs, Monroes, McNeeses, etc to complain----Don't think that their voices will matter in this however!!! I still think of how McNeese voted the extra use of funding for athletics down because we would get a larger share of the pie---And the irony is that not only does LTUR not get their Med school in Shreveport, but we get one!!! Not happy campers in RUSTon today!!!
