This is interesting. What I find remarkable is that perhaps State was trying to move into the academic void left by Tulane when it went private and changed its name? Before Tulane did that, when they were named Louisiana and State, the two schools were like the rest of the country, one liberal arts, medicine, and law; the other ag & engineering.

Because of course, Tulane was Louisiana before State wanted to be Louisiana.
