I think Elvin ivory going to the aba after his sophomore season has to be the youngest class wise, but I think both him and ep went pro at 19. Ebron also got drafted with a year left

Sorry was just thinking "pro" yeah ep as a junior to the NBA? Doesn't happen often evidently round these parts.

This is why I put two sets of dots in my post.

You are the authority on this.

He'd make a ton of sense for them, but so would other guards like Shabazz Napier or Jabari Parker (if he comes out). At this point, it's about where teams have Payton in relation to other guards. There are a lot, which is why I'm nervous, but I hope and think he's getting advice from good sources who have his best interests in mind.
Brock, not trying to nitpick here but Parker is not a guard. I understand that Parker would be a first option for most teams in the league as he may go first overall. You are correct though in that there is a lot of depth at that position this year in the draft. You have Napier, Keith Appling, Russ Smith etc...

But there is a lot to lose by him leaving early when he could gain a lot by staying. I think by staying he assures himself of a first round selection & possibly even a lottery pick.
There is nothing assured by staying another year. Its worked well for other players over the years like Doug McDermott but its also worked against players like Marcus Smart, especially if they get hurt. I think you are on to something though as basketball is not as volatile as the NFL in this regard. One minute a player is hot and trending to go high in the draft and the next minute, his wingspan is not what people thought so he slides 20 spots and loses a lot of money. However, its still a calculated move that EP has to make regardless. I'm not as sure that he would be picked in the first round as I was a month ago but I'm sure that EP and Marlin have tons of info to go on to make this decision.

Boomer. Why don't you research it on the Lloyds of London web site. They are the specialist at this kind of stuff. But I wouldn't doubt that as a salty insurance guy you could figure a 5 or 10 million dollar policy, then take the risk factor & age of the participant into account & come up with a percentage of that payout for a premium. I would guess somewhere between 1 & 5 % maybe? So let's say he's insured for 5 million dollars at a 2% premium. Just guessing let's say $100,000 in premium. Is it worth it to the school in increased ticket sales & attendance for them to insure him. I'll say this for the record. With Elfrid payton in the line up, I'll commit to four of the best season tickets I can buy next season. Without him I aint commiting to anything. And I don't want to hear any grief about how I owe this or that to the school. I don't owe anything for anything that I'm not certain will entertain me. Besides I've kinda got 10K in limbo right now.

But I'll bet you right now, if it was leagal for the school to give him $100,000 to stay he'd stay in a heart beat.

Soooo what's the final verdict? It would be great if he declared yesterday so that if he wants to come back for a year, he can. But after yesterday if you declare, you can't come back

Yep. I thought about that on the way home this afternoon. No idea how I overlooked that when I posted it.

Best of luck going in the 1st Elfrid. Gonna be looking for that Fleur-Des-Bee on TV.

Any bets on who's going to pick him up? OK City? San Antonio??
