Thread: Two-minute drill (Q&A) with UL wideout Caleb Rubin

  1. UL Football Two-minute drill (Q&A) with UL wideout Caleb Rubin

Measuring in at 5-foot-7, Caleb Rubin can sometimes be hard to find on the football field.

Still, his smile and work ethic makes the former Lafayette High standout a vital member of UL's football team.

Now a senior for the Ragin' Cajuns, Rubin is trying to soak up one last year at Cajun Field.

Rubin recently took some time to talk with The Daily Advertiser about his size, his speed and his family.

Question: What do you love the most about the game of football and why?

Answer: I really just love playing with my teammates. It just kind of grows on you being around everybody. It's something you miss and enjoy. That's what really gives me the passion and joy.

Mr. Parrott I thank you for this series and I'm not a big football fan but I am a fan of Caleb. Can you do it for baseball and call it tween innings with Josh Parrott.

Caleb did a good job of catching the football on Saturday. Wonder where he will fit in on the offense?

After seeing Caleb in the scrimmage saturday, I think they need to find somewhere for him in the O so he can get the ball and run. He looks to have good hands and he's gotten a little more explosive so I hope they use him alot. He's one of those guys that the D loses on the field and then find him running with the ball up field for a TD.

I'm glad people have enjoyed the Q&As and some of the other things we've been doing. A lot of work has gone into the stories.

As far as the Q&As are concerned, it's something I'd like to continue year-round, although not always on a daily basis. There are a lot of student-athletes at UL. The format is a wonderful way to quickly give people a closer look at them in their own words.

Absolutely. I too have enjoyed the series and just overall more coverage of the team this year as opposed to years before. I do have one question. Josh, would you consider in the future doing what the Advertiser did years ago. That was a breakdown of the positions on the football team and do maybe one per week or whatever and basically just provide a rundown of who are potential playmakers and provide depth charts etc...? I used to like this segment a lot but it hasn't been done in quite a while.

All those things you mentioned are things we're looking to do in the fall. Thanks again for your feedback and your time.

speaking of "Their own words"---When a player says UL does the MA put UL in place of the ULL in quotes??? I see articles that have this quite often especially in Bobby A's articles!!! How can this be done if it is???
