I've been around since the beginning of the name game. Hope to see it before God calls me home (again).

Simple question...would you like to be ranked #1 as Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns from the University of Louisiana-Lafayette or have a team like the hoax and be named University of Louisiana?

Drop the name stuff and savor the moment...#1 ranking in a D1 NCAA sport ...other than water skiing or bass fishing...

Only 1 position up in USA Today, but it is still a move in the right direction.

So far #1, #3, #4 and #6.

Also, its kind of weird, Houston gets a first place vote at #17 after they lost a game this week to Lamar (who was swept by Nicholls on the weekend)

This is not because we're lower in this poll, but because of stuff like this. Coaches dont have the time to devote to researching teams like the media does. Guys that look at every team up top will know more about those teams than a coach, who by his own accord, will more than likely tell you he's more worried about his own team and the opponents on the schedule. I put a little more stock into the other 4 polls than this one.

In what universe do you live? One thing is not dependent of another, and just because you can pose the question does not make it so. It is not like Baseball America said you can have this, but not that, or that and not this.

Nice Catch, Sorry, 2 spots up. I like that we are moving up. Would be nice one week when we have no where to go. Meaning #1 in every poll. But I would be happy saying we are #6 in the nation, but we can say all of them. Because we are 1 of the top 6 teams in the country.

Here's my question: Is that UL's first #1 ranking in any sport?

We won championships in trampoline, weight lifting, boxing, but I don't think there was ever an actual poll for those sports.

This is a great day for UL, UL Athletics and UL Baseball! Is this first time in school history we're ranked #1 in any poll in any sport? I don't want to take away from the excitement and pride of today but I feel differently on name issue. Just because we're ranked doesn't make our mis-branding OK. If anything this is when we need it the most! I'm probably going to get a lot of crap for this but "Never be satisfied".
