Thread: Ashley Brignac Shoulder

This is straight from the story itself:

"She has since been on an extensive rehabilitation program. The results have been favorable, but Brignac acknowledged that surgery cannot be ruled out until the next visit with Warner."

If surgery was not an option, Brignac should have said so. Obviously, she did not.

Perhaps in the future - instead of openly questioning facts in this forum reported in the DA, which you seem to do on a regular basis - you could contact the DA and find the answers you're seeking.

In fact, call me at 289-6318 and I'll point you in the right direction. Or talk to me at football practice. I'm the guy with a shaved head with the notebook in his hands. Hard to miss.

Otherwise you're speculating on what you consider to be speculation with people who do not have the answers to your questions.

We appreciate the emphasis you have put on generating UL stories in the DA. Its a big improvement over some past periods. but I'm also glad that CajunT did some follow up and clarified the extent of the injury. Your headlines had us all worried about Ashley's future as a pitcher for UL softball.

Besides, rather than getting into a ____ing contest with CajunT who is on the same page when it comes to reporting on UL, how about cracking on the clowns posting negative comments to almost every story you write about UL sports? You might even suggest to Heist that he do a story about all the anti-UL commentators that post in response to any story that is positive about UL (similar to the story the DA did abotu UL fans not supporting lsu in its bid for the BCS title.)

The comments from the knuckleheads aside, keep the stories comming.

CajunT is not speculating with his comments. He bases them off conversations with people on the UL Staff.

I'm just curious as to how this story started in the first place? Mike out of town. Stef didnt call the DA and say, "hey guess what?"

We have a National Inquirer thing going on? Questioning the guys that use the weedeaters and pick up trash?

Josh, I made two calls yesterday and that is all the clarification that was needed. I replied to a Cajun fans post on this site and gave the other side of the story. You chimed in and answered. In my book and a few others, the story was sensationalized. Once again, no one questioned the Advertisers reasoning for doing the story, so stop being so thin skinned. As you stated, you guys are professional members of the press and sometimes people are going to question stories that are printed. I understand it is your job to sell newspapers and cover sports from an unbiased prospective. As a bias Cajun supporter, I’m more interested in not undermining the program and its staff in its effort to succeed. And when I see something that I know is questionable, I’m going to ask questions or let others know what my sources have to say about the subject. Thanks

Perhaps a simple "UPDATE" would suffice.

All I know is if she needs surgery GET IT.

Putting it off will do her no good.

This Shoulder Specialist from Texas is not an orthopedic surgeon and is not qualified to give a opinion on her pitching motion.

Donna B. is pitching in the national tournament this week in Oklahoma City for her travel team and has done extremely well. _
Careful there. You are saying the Lotiefs knew about her injury and still let her play "asked that she take it easy." At the same time they let a healthy Donna Bourgeois pitch in Oklahoma?

I'm not sure one has anything to do with the other. The decision for both to play ball this summer was theirs, not the coaching staffs. Why wouldn't a healthy Donna Bourgeois pitch against best in travel ball? Just curious.

Here is a little insider information for the know it all crowd. Writers rarely get to write their own headlines.

If that's what she said it's a journalist's job to report it.

We reported there's a possibility of surgery because she said there is.

It's not speculation when a source brings it up. _

Parrott, I just want to say that I DO love your coverage of UL athletics and its much appreciated by us fans that the DA has done much more to put an emphasis to the readers on this coverage. HOWEVER, It is speculation when your source is the player who knows NOTHING about her potential diagnosis since she hasn't seen the specialist yet. She shouldn't have even mentioned surgery but she's new to this and probably didn't realize the storm it would bring. Until we hear from the specialist, everything is speculation.....

At this point, anything that's said until Brignac sees the doctor next week is speculation.

I, for one, am tired of arguing about what is and isn't speculation. I'll keep my opinion, and everyone else can keep theirs. I'm also tired after spending three hours mowing the lawn and 2 1/2 hours at football practice today. I know some people can relate after a long day of work.

Fortunately, I'm not the same color at the Ragin' Cajuns.

I'm going to sit this discussion out until we have new information.
