Here is a little insider information for the know it all crowd. Writers rarely get to write their own headlines.
Parrott, I just want to say that I DO love your coverage of UL athletics and its much appreciated by us fans that the DA has done much more to put an emphasis to the readers on this coverage. HOWEVER, It is speculation when your source is the player who knows NOTHING about her potential diagnosis since she hasn't seen the specialist yet. She shouldn't have even mentioned surgery but she's new to this and probably didn't realize the storm it would bring. Until we hear from the specialist, everything is speculation.....
At this point, anything that's said until Brignac sees the doctor next week is speculation.
I, for one, am tired of arguing about what is and isn't speculation. I'll keep my opinion, and everyone else can keep theirs. I'm also tired after spending three hours mowing the lawn and 2 1/2 hours at football practice today. I know some people can relate after a long day of work.
Fortunately, I'm not the same color at the Ragin' Cajuns.
I'm going to sit this discussion out until we have new information.
I had surgery on Wednesday. I was thinking about it long before I saw a specialist I even told a few friends. Hey surgery is not a 4 letter word, sometimes it is preferable to rehab.
I had a ROOT CANALtrue I did think of trying to rehab my #3 tooth (a molar) but decided to go the surgery route in stead, rehab is such an iffy proposition you know. I hope I don't regret my decision.
The fact that some think Ashley Brignac can't speak for herself or that her comments should be off the record gives me a whole other tooth ache. I think I'll opt for rehab this time.

THIS WHOLE THREAD HAS BEEN PAINFUL. TOOTH ACHE? HECK MY WHOLE BODY ACHES AFTER READING SOME OF THIS!
Well that is what happens when you get paid those big salaries from the DA---Acres of expensive lawn to cut---lol---Your coverage has been great--wanted to thank you in person at the practice but you kept on moving around---thanks for the dos munitos drills each morning in the paper!!!!
Please introduce yourself if you see me at practice. I'm still trying to meet everyone I can.
And whoever said it was my lawn I was mowing?
(And Turbine: Best wishes to a quick recovery after your surgery.)
By the way, thanks, Parrott, for the UL athletics coverage.
Answers concerning the prognosis for Ashley Brignac's shoulder injury are on hold. Right now, according to her mother, Tammy Brignac, it's rehab and hope.
That was the news from a phone interview on Thursday concerning an injury that could threaten next season for the star sophomore pitcher of the UL softball team.
"We don't have any answers yet," Tammy Brignac said. "Ashley's rehabbing very hard. That's where she's at right now."
Tammy Brignac confirmed last week's story by The Daily Advertiser that the Cajuns' record-setting freshman in 2008 has been diagnosed with a tear of the labrum in her right pitching shoulder.
For well over a month, the Brignacs have been consulting Dr. Sherry Werner on treatment of the injury. Based in Arlington, Texas, Werner is one of the nation's leading authorities on the biomechanics of the shoulder for windmill pitchers.
Brignac's medical treatment is being handled by a doctor in New Orleans.
