A&M-Kingsville athletics director Scott Gines named McNeese State assistant Jason Gonzales as the Javelinas' new coach. The Cuero native has 14 years of collegiate coaching experience and also served as head coach at Skidmore-Tynan High School.

"We were seeking an individual who is a tremendous teacher-coach, an experienced recruiter who will be effective in South Texas, and an experienced and even-keeled leader who will consistently position Javelina baseball for conference and postseason championships," Gines said.
