I know I sound like a broken record, but you need to let this go. The University calls itself UL Lafayette. Almost all of its merchandise says it also. Hopefully one day the University will come out with a press release and announce a formal change. Until that day comes you will have what you have now.... a hodge-podge of names and aconyms.
Try to enjoy this. Wins are MUCH more important than a name.
Because the University does not care!!!!!! If they did, we would not see all of these silly acronyms and UL_L shirts. Also, I just recruited at UL and half of the students called it UL_L. Why is that? I want the UL name too, but I refuse to get worked up over it. Incremental progress is not how this thing is going to change. One day UL will hold a press conference stating the name and that will be it. Much like Nevada-Reno is Nevada now.
Back to the title of this thread. I would except him with open arms. We have very few players with his combination of size and speed. Much like his teamate Bentley, he would probably start immediately.
Hooray for name threads!!
When people at work ask me where I went to school, I say UL--L mainly because if I say UL they don't know what the heck I'm talking about (I've tried). Typically I would mention "UL" and they'd say "you mean USL??" with absolutely no malice, just genuine confusion. After a bowl victory or three, that can change, and there's your window to announce us as "UL."
And as I've stated before, NOBODY in the state wants us to be UL except us, and as long as we're in a conference with ULM, we won't be called UL within our conference, which is where is should start (after we announce it ourselves).
For now, we must pick our poison. What is worse, "ULL", or "UL LAF". I HOPE we're all on the same page with this one at least... (In case you didn't know, UL LAF[You'll Laugh] is possibly the worse ticker name in history. Worse than the Sam Houston Institute of Technology's ticker name...)
Adding Beal would be awesome. Do you think he'd be OK with playing defense? That's where we need him it seems...
Heck ALL of make mistakes, and if anyone says they do not I am scared of them. My hopes are that we at UL will this kid a shot if this is what he wants. It would be great if due to him sitting out a transfered year we could have him play this year even just being able to practice with the team. Heck who knows he may be able to get in game shape and help out in some way. At the very least he could start learning the system.
Nice to see this season having anothe positive effect!
See all of you at the game!![]()
