Thread: Some help for the Cajuns ...

  1. UL Baseball Some help for the Cajuns ...

Remember Alabama ace Spender Turbull? He threw 7 1/3 innings of 4-hit shutout ball against #20 Kentucky tonight. Alabama knocks off Kentucky 3-0 to take game one of the series.

A couple of Vandy errors in the top of the 8th sends Tyler Beede to the dugout (7 1/3 IP, 3H, 0ER, 2 R) and LSU leads Vandy 4-2 B8th after putting up a four-spot in the T8th. Nola went 6 2/3 innings, giving up 6 hits and his first run of the year in a no-decision.

Great night in college baseball. I watched a lot of the Rodon/Weaver matchup as well as the Ole Miss/South Carolina game late on

LOL ... so did I. ESPN3.com is great for college baseball. The quality of the broadcasts is improving. Life is good.

... and LSU closes the deal on Vanderbilt ... 4-2. Beede gets saddled with the loss, despite not yielding an earned run and only 3 hits.

With LSU beating Vandy tonight and Alabama knocking off #20 Kentucky, I cannot help but think of the Vanderbilt fan (Jeff in DC) commenting to Aaron Fitt of Baseball America on BA ranking the Cajuns at #6 and Vanderbilt at #7.

One thing that fans often do not think about is defense (though Vandy does have a good one). Vandy's defense let them down tonight "BIG TIME" in crunch time.

Meanwhile ... Tulane beat up on East Carolina's Jeff Hoffman ... a hard throwing righty and a top prospect in the upcoming MLB draft. Tulane wins in Greenville 7-2.

The arrogant entitlement SEC fans have in every sport but basketball is almost comical.

This is nothing new. No matter what we do or how much we win, it's all about perception. Most SEC (or any P5 conference) fans look at the name and that's it. They look down their noses at teams in the Sun Belt, CUSA, and MAC and are dumbfounded when someone presents the notion that those teams can be better than theirs at a sport. Educated college sports fans know the truth.
