whats the line for about 10' above the last section they poured, i can't see it to clearly but it looks like they are cutting into the mud slab.

They are digging through the mud bed. It looks like it might be a footing or a grade beam. Too early to tell.

Is this strictly because of soil movements/foundation issues or are there plans to place a wall or railing there?

Probably a foundation/structural member. Keep in mind I have not seen the plans and everything I might post is strictly my opinion based on my observation of the construction cam, Frenchies photos and an occasional photo by Brad Kemp that I might see on Facebook.

Upon further review, it appears that the trench in the mud bed is a key or stiffener that is intended to stabilize and rigidize the concrete. It appears to be at the 1/4 mark (give or take) of the slope. I would anticipate another 2 or three of these to be installed by the time all things are said and done.

Would this be some sort of footing to help stabilize the entire slab and prevent it from possible settling and sliding down the slope?

This view looks really good. Sure wish we would be bowling the stadium.

It is probably intended to be a key that will lock the slab to the ground. It will also stiffen the concrete to prevent buckling and creep.

That is a very nice pic! Is it me, the camera angle, or is the addition larger to the right of the pic/bigger side of stadium?

It's larger on the home side. I never noticed until they started this either, but our two halves of the stadium weren't symmetrical. So our remaining grazz endzone will be slightly larger on the home side than on the student/away side.

The original Cajun Field sat 26,000. Early 80's they added the two wings on the lower student section on each end. That brought the capacity to 31,000. You can see the additions if you look at the student side. That makes the section on the new end zone bigger on the home side to meet up with the existing seating.

That little addition on the home side in the north end zone was also part of the project to balance the east/west sideline seating.
