UL — This running back stuff has turned out alright for Tyrell Fenroy.
Good enough, in fact, that the LaPlace native and former St. Charles Catholic High star is on pace to shatter a number of UL school records and possibly join a very elite club of college running backs.
Had Fenroy stuck to the initial path his football career started down, though, he wouldn’t be thinking much about rushing records.
At least not as the person carving out all the yards.
“It’s probably hard to believe, but when I first started playing football in little league I was an offensive lineman,” Fenroy said, a tinge of pride detectable from one of the best running backs in the country. “I was bigger than the other kids weight-wise and I was a pretty decent blocker. I could move guys around pretty good.”
Back then when he was 9 and 10 years old, No. 78 weighed in at a stocky 170 pounds — 16 pounds lighter than he’ll carry to start his senior season.
