YES
NO!
I just think this is a terrible idea for many reasons already talked about. And this is coming from a guy with a kegerator in his kitchen.
We just don't need it. Too many possible bad outcomes. There is a reason why nearly every Division 1 university doesn't allow it (and yes, I understand our relatively unique situation where Cajun Field is "off-campus").
Beer at Cajun Field!

Cajun Field is not "off campus". There are other schools that sell beer, like Houston. The only difference is that UL is actually deciding to capitalize on profits that could be had by selling beer. You don't think the 5 or 6 thousand people who rush out the gates for half time to get their 1 or 2 beers in would act any different if they sold beer in the stadium. You will have the same number of alchahol related discrepancies if we sell beer as opposed to not selling beer. People get wasted tailgating regardless of what goes on inside the stadium.
Cups can be thrown too as demonstrated in last weeks Cubs vs. Phillies game. If someone wants to throw something they will find something to throw. As much beer that is smuggled into the student section, I have never seen a can thrown from the stands.
As for the price of beer....some mentioned $7? Have you not been to a basketball or baseball game? $5 for a small but a man sized beer is $8.50. We stand to make a good profit off of this. I don't see why this is getting so much negative press.
No, I do not feel that it would change anything with the number of people leaving the stadium at halftime. Those people go outside to drink but also to get food, watch TV especialy when LSU is on and to use a bathroom where they don't have to have their waiters on. I don't think selling beer in the stadium is going to do any good. If you truly want it to, then you stop people from exiting the stadium and being allowed to come back in.
WOW!!! This is great news!! I don't drink much but I know how much this means to many who attend UL football games (inside/outside the gate).
