YES
NO!
Nah... you are being too heavy-handed. The beer inside the stadium will be fine. I'm not worried whether it makes more or less traffic. It's just something being sold inside that adds to the event... for some. I don't think it's going to bother many. It will be fine.
In the early 80s, as a student, we used to bring flasks into the game and keep a pretty good buzz going. We packed the student section, we didn't fight, and we didn't throw anything. We yelled a lot. It was a blast. I think the beer sales is going to go over well. It isn't going to make a huge difference to anything... good or bad... just a little more buzz going inside the stadium.
Heck, I've gone to the Masters in Augusta where they aren't going to put up with jack shat out of the throngs of people that are allowed to run around the place and watch the golf... and keep quiet 98% of the time... and guess what... they sell draft beer... very few issues. Beer inside the stadium isn't going to be a big deal.
Well, you couple the beer sold in the stadium with people who have been drinking for 8 hours prior to go along with the stinch that will be present of spilled beer and drunken morons and I'm not in favor. Like I said, it won't bother me since most of the people around me aren't prone to kicking back a few so Oh well.
Anybody know how the university gets their money from the beer sales????
Hahahahahaha. I see some things don't change much from the '70s! We actually used to be able to bring our own ice chests in. They stopped that because we'd bring in candy and the vendors didn't like that. Now were limited to one ice chest per section.
Except for this year our director is very keen to what is going on, so if we're caught, we get kicked out etc. I'm not going to risk it, I have too much riding on band. I'll drink the booze after the game.
Hopefully the same way they get paid during baseball season.
Anyone got an over/under on how quickly the Monrovians complain?
Waaaahh!!! They sell beer!!! WAAAAAHHHH!!! THERE cheating again!!! (P.S. I know it's "they're"- that's just how they'd spell it) WAAAHHH!!! Why didn't we think about that? WAAAAHHHH!!!!!!
There's a lot of space between bone cold sober people and drop dead drunk people. And even when I tailgate all day... eating and drinking, I'm not a stumbling drunk going into the game. I think some people get so tore up in the lot that they don't make it inside. Most people I know that throw em back all day and would have a couple during the game, are highly interested in the game itself. It is pretty hard to be stupid drunk and keep up with a game.
I don't want the game experience to be unpleasant for anyone... I hope it all works out. I don't see where this huge beer stench is going to be a big problem. It takes a while for beer laying around to become rancid. If you are talking about that fine aroma of wheat and barley in the latter stages of fermentation... that is called "aroma therapy" and that just adds to the ambience of college football. Now, if they start letting me light up a stogie... that would suck for the people around me... and just for the record... I don't light up stogies around people that don't like it.
The poll results speak for themselves....people want beer at Cajun Field. A majority of Cajun games are tame affairs. Beer should keep more people at the game and maybe get them off their hands.
anyone heard any alcohol related problems with the Southern game?
According to the DA website, there was a last minute glitch between the vendor and the alcohol control board that prevented sales at the game. Hopefully that will be resolved before next week. Regardless, it seemed to be an incident free day and everyone (both fan bases) seemed to have a good time.
