Few hours back we reported that Microsoft is planning to release next major version of Office for Mac by end of this year. The Verge today reported that Microsoft is also planning to release OneNote for Mac app this month. OneNote note taking app was released on Windows in 2003, and since then Microsoft has released 4 major versions of it. In the past few years, OneNote is facing competition from companies like Evernote. In response, Microsoft has released OneNote app for all leading mobile platforms and it is updating them regularly. The Verge also reported that Microsoft is planning to release OneNote Windows app for free. Currently, OneNote comes as part of Office 2013/Office 365 bundle and if you want to buy it separately, it costs $49.99. While its direct competitor Evernote has all the apps for free and earns revenue through premium features subscription, Microsoft might follow the same route.
