No reason to get riled up about something you cannot control. Like it or not we are Louisiana Lafayette or UL_L to most people. It will take an official announcement or law change for us to be Louisiana or UL to the outside world. I got over this years ago and I would suggest you do also...so as not to drive yourself crazy.
The way I look at it is if the University doesn't care what they are called I shouldn't either.

Our official name is Louisiana Lafayette.
Every news outlet other than the DA calls us UL_L or Louisiana Lafayette.
The World Wide Leader shows us on the crawl us UL Laf.
Almost all opposing coaches call us Lafayette.
Every person I have met outside of Lafayette calls us UL_L. They do this with no malice. They call us that because they think that is our name.
Other than the NCAA basketball tournament in 2002. We have never been represented as UL to the nation.

I could go on and on. Personally I call my University UL, but me and people on this board are in a VERY small minority. As CajunsMike said, I could care less what they call us as long as they call us winners.

I'm plain sick of our name issue. I wish and I don't know why we didn't pursue the University of South Louisiana. Perhaps there was a lot of opposition to even that name change that I never heard about. It seems these are the only topics ever discussed on a Cajun board.
1) We don't have enough money
2) Name issues
3) Reasons we hate LSU
4) How long will Tech be in the WAC
5) Reasons to hate LSU

I'm tempted to send letters or emails to anyone at UL asking what our name is in the hopes that maybe they will decide on something. Post it in the papers, memo espn, shout it from Griffen hall. Make it official, let everyone know and put the damn thing to bed. I'm so tired of this name game. Let me know what to call my school and I will do that. If it's UL at Lafayette then say so, if its University of Louisiana "Lafayette" fine, just let everyone know once and for all.

The name issue is a ball game and someone dropped the ball. At the very least someone is calling the wrong plays.

Besides it's still the off season, we can talk about most anthing excpet the regular taboos and reasons why we need to replace the head coach.
