For UL senior Ashley Franklin, the success or failure of the classroom experience can come down to one crucial component - the teacher.
"I've had some really amazing teachers here," she said. "But you know how it is: You'll get that one teacher you just feel doesn't really fit in, doesn't really get it, and everything changes."
In some classes, Franklin said, the variable has been adjuncts, instructors who are hired to teach specific classes in a department without assuming the workload of a full-time faculty member.
"There's a difference," Franklin said.
