Sure, but Spurrier, Saban, Miles, Carrol, and any other top tier BCS coach could not win with a total budget that is less than current contract will pay them.

2 games, that is all it takes for LSU to make more money than our entire budget. Still some people on this board assume that we can compete year in and year out with our current budget, is ludicrous. It will take 1.5 million dollars in salaries to get high quality head coaches and assistants to change the culture of Cajun football. Our OC/DC should be paid what Bustle is currently making, it was a miracle that we were able to lure Buslte away from Va Tech, hell he was probably making more money there than he is here.

It is time that UL's athletic department pony up the dough so we can compete. _
well if the best mr bustle can do is get beat by monroe 5 out of 6 years and get his ass handed to him by mcneese in front of the largest crowd since texas a@m then he needs to go, no amount of money in the world would help mr. bustle. i agree college football is a business and we wont compete year in and year out until we do something. but for now bustle isnt even competing with the teams he is supposed to, every article you read says we have th etalent to compete but for some reason we dont, why is that?

Bowl eligible just means you go .500 for the season, then you are "eligible" for a bowl berth

We will not win just by changing out coaches... but rest easy... if we crap out this year... Bustle is history. HOWEVER... programs that have coaches that are "beneath" the program need to change out coaches. Right now, even with Bustle's lackluster record... our program deserves him. If he wakes up tomorrow, has a college football epiphany, and launches our program single-handedly above our contemporaries... he will be a miracle worker. This program needs to quit having a bunch of fans arguing over our "next coach" and stick to the root of the problem... funding.

What in the world makes people think we will search, select and secure someone better than Bustle? We had better make ourselves a more attractive program from within (full admin commitment) before we search for the next answer from available coaches. How many times have coaches come in as the "answer" only to leave as the "fault"?

We aren't going to do any better than Bustle is doing until we separate ourselves with funding. I'm sick of hearing people talk that we "should" beat the smiles off the Funroes and Mickyneeses on a regular basis when we have no meaningful net separators. The way to get a better program is not to just hammer on the admin to change out the coach. We will only get another coaching experiment. The way to do it right is to demand we institute a program that will not accept anything less out of a coach than a larger salary deserves.

It isn't as fun as beating up on the coach... but I am right about funding.

It's like finding the restaurant in town with the best steaks and atmosphere. Heck, that's the easy part.

The question is, "Do I really have the stomach, so to be speak, for the prices they charge?"

All things considered, Coach Bustle has done a pretty decent job trying to serve prime grade steaks made out of butt cut burger meat.

And without money, you will not get anything better then him until a commitment is made by the administration and alumni to fund this football program. While it is true that ULM has beaten us more often then not, they still have no bowl appearence either and their football operating budget is $554,000 more then the Cajuns. Their overall athletic budget is less then UL's, so we have the lowest football budget in the Sun Belt. Let us not forget, McNeese States football operating budget is very close to UL's. We get what we pay for and that is the lowest football operating budget in the Sun Belt.

I'm not going to use the excuse of the budget for the lost against McNeese St, but if people want to play in the Bowl Division of college football, some funding better come soon.
This program has been on life support for years and the oxygen tank is near empty!

You correct - it's the old apples and oranges thing again.

Coach B. can take full blame for that McNeese fiasco and a few others I've watched but he can also take credit of that UAB game and that Houston game and others I've seen as well.

I'd really like to know what happened after that 6-0 win over FAU in '06 (the one where Michael Adams pulled our fat out of the fire). That had us 9-3 over Coach B's past 12 games at that point in time.

Good question. I am still scratching my head over that loss.
