When the Ragin' Cajuns lost Jonathan Lucroy and others after the 2007 season, it was obvious the offense would at least take a small step back. However, not even coach Tony Robichaux could've prepared for his team's offensive numbers this season. After having a wealth of success at the plate in 2007, the Cajuns managed just to hit .248 this season. Most disheartening, the Cajuns' leading hitter – Scott Hawkins – hit just .306 with 11 homers and 40 RBIs. While the offense was bad throughout the season, the pitching staff ended the year with a less than stellar 4.99 ERA. ULL began the season on the cusp of our rankings, but ended it fifth in the Sun Belt.
