Griffen has the God given talent because of size and strength but he does have huge holes in his swing and will always be prone to strikeouts. He will hit better than .136 but I will be surprised if he is a .300 hitter, but I was wrong about Morgan before. I can see potential talent and Griffen's is not an avg. hitter but someone who can drive the ball into the gaps and hit the long ball. He also has good definsive skills and has the best arm behind the plate since I have followed the cajuns (late 90's).

I was very excited when Griffen committed to the cajuns because of the hype but when someone posted the video on him showcasing his hitting skills I was discouraged. The first time I saw him live was at the fall world series and his first 3 at-bats were strikeouts but his 4th was a HR. _
i saw the same tape u saw. In a few earlier post i saw the comparison btw he and luke. From day one when Luke came in his swing was ten times flatter which gave him a better chance to be sucessful at the college level. Griffen, from what i saw from the fall to the spring, has a swing with a high finish along with a few holes that I thought would give him trouble at this level. Can he turn it around and be a .300 hitter?? Hell yea he can. He was not drafted and thought as highly as he was because he is not a stud. Adjustments need to be made and I am sure once healthy he will get it done for us. All this talk is overshadowing his defensive ability which is the area that our catchers need great improvement in. He has a cannon and is a better than average recieving catcher already. He will get it dont worry

Scouts make mistakes on players every year. The scout that drafted him saw what he could do against high school pitching. Now that he is facing college level guys they are not just throwing the baseball, they are pitching! He needs to start hitting and not swinging!!!!
