I agree with Express's view of how Shawn Long can handle his foul issue. He seems to get a "silly" foul every game. At times it is best to let a guy get the shot off vs fouling. It keeps you in the game longer. You have to be careful not to get too passive however or you become ineffective on defense. There was a game this year in which that happened and Coach had to sit him for awhile so he could get refocused.

---I tell you what Shawn can do that nobody that I can remember did as well ----that is for a big guy to shoot the 3 pointer!!! I mentioned on playing him outside and JJ at the high post---I guess they would Zone up asap on seeing this!!! But I know that EP and La Bamba could post up on some guys in the paint and to the side down low!!!

Do ya'll really think this guy is NBA talent? I'm not a scout, but I don't think he's anywhere close. Not strong enough for PF, not athletic enough to be a SF , and just entirely too slow for a 3. I'm glad he's good for us, but if don't think he could make LSU's roster with those man-beasts they have. I watch him run the floor and just don't see NBA athleticism. Just me.

I also laughed when I heard Southall and NBA in the same sentence.

Couldn't agree more. Long is good but I think too many people mom here get caught up in the hype and really forget how good you have to be to get drafted or make it in the NBA. Look at the guys in our history who made it in the NBA and compare them to Long. He would have to be compared to Kevin Brooks in my opinion, due to size/position, and he's nowhere near Kevin's league. Just look at how many points Kevin had in his college career compared to what Long has done.

A SF and a 3 are the same thing.

I agree Long is no Brooks, but using points to compare the two isn't the best way to make your argument. Brooks' point totals from Freshman to Senior year. 453, 600, 583, 658. That's 1053 for Brooks at the end of his sophomore year. Long has already surpassed that with 1088. Only Ebron, Toney, and Bo have higher point totals than Long in their first two years.

Long is a better player than Brooks. Long is better rebounder and defender. Brooks did not play much defense. Brooks was really good but I think Long is more rounded.

In addition Brooks was not nearly the rebounder, and had zero defense. Brooks does not match Long in many ways. He did have a sweet three for a big guy. He also did not last long in the NBA.
