Rogers, who recently completed his first season as the Ragin' Cajun head coach, said first-year assistant Liza Whittington left the program about a month ago.
"She just decided to move on," Rogers said.
Rogers said he has narrowed the field of candidates for the opening to a "short list." He hopes to announce a new hire on July 1.
The Cajuns went 8-22 - including 2-15 away from home - one season removed from the program's first NCAA Tournament appearance. Rogers must replace the loss of six seniors, including the team's top three scorers and top four rebounders.
