Poll: Class of 2008 incoming class, who will see the field this Fall?
My guess? Everybody that plays defense. And maybe an O-lineman or two.
Odom?
The poll only allows 20 choices, I ran out of room on it since there were more than 20 signees. To be honest, I think this class is pretty special and that it will have the fewest redshirts of any UL class in the last 10 years. It seems like every player has some sort of wierd story or event in their lives that made them a total sleeper in recruiting. You have hurricane guys, guys that played on teams that had losing records, guys that played for teams that the coaches do not help out in the recruiting process at all, guys that moved their junior year in high school, guys with broken bones their junior season, guys that committed elsewhere and changed their minds, guys that played for teams with so much publicized talent that they were overlooked, guys that had significant growth spurts during their senior year, guys that were amazingly late bloomers and blew up during their senior season, guys that were running backs on passing teams, guys that were WR's on running teams, guys that were tight ends on running teams and were never thrown to, guys that switched positions or played out of position because of a team need, and guys that had multiple issues listed above.
Looking forward to seeing what these guys can do this Fall!
While I consider Double D a lock for playing time and the poll results thus far agree with that, I am surprised by the lack of votes for Hill so far...
I'm not voting because I haven't a clue on this subject... not even a guess. My hopes for this class is whether they get playing time this season or not, they compete so vigorously that it pushes the whole team up a notch. I think some of the defensive newcomers always have more chances at playing time than offensive IMO. I expect some defensive newcomers will see significant playing time this season... just a guess. If not, I sure hope it's because our depth from last year made marked improvement. I am counting more on improved coaching on D more than anything else this year. Schemes, technique, and attitude elevations would be a real nice thing.
Just think if Glazer was on that list.
I think he is a year away. He is perfect for a redshirt year. He needs to add a little bulk and we have lots of veteran guys at skill positions that we will lean heavily on this year. I am a bit surprised at the lack of votes for Rodney Gillis. We need a ton of help in the D secondary and Bentley will play a ton but we may need more help and why not get him some reps and experience. Dean is a lock for playing time and should push Seth Adams right away.
I totally agree. This class has a lot of talent and some may see significant time this fall but more important will be how they compete during the summer and fall workouts. High school and college are different animals. If they step up and really compete I think too that they will push the older and veteran players to a higher level. Should be fun to watch. Coaches have to been itching to go.
