Would Robe have any say-so in the grass versus turf?
I would say Robe would have a lot of say so in what goes on or around his field.
Yes empty seats are an eye sore in the regular season BUT what has been our goal every season besides the CWS? Hosting regionals and super regionals. Thats why we are doing all of the expansion and facelifts in the first place. Yes the empty seats look bad, but if we host a regional, we've got more seats to put butts in.
If you build it they will come
One thing I do know. it was stipulated by the donor that an experienced stadium architect be used. One was located and has been involved for a while. We should have a good product when all is said & done.

I would like to see some sort of "patio and walkway" built around the outfield wall and in between the pine trees. Each patio between trees could be rented out each game to make extra money. Have portl-o-potties at each end and a beer stand. This would be a great place to watch a game right on top of the outfield wall. This could be done very professional looking and would be very unique.
The latest I heard from several sources is that they will pursue the renovation versus a new stadium. From what I have been able to gather we will get a first class renovation.
In 20 years 80+% of college baseball teams with have fieldturf. Zero to low maintainence, lower long term cost, less rainouts, etc, etc etc. I would guess the mound will be the only dirt in the place when our new field gets done. I'm sure the players won't complain because they do much of the field maintenence now.
Apparently the teams that have put in fieldturf but kept the dirt infield all wish they had just done all fieldturf. To me that sounds like a happy medium but what do I know.
I'm not saying I like it but it will probably happen.
