LAFAYETTE — Incoming University of Louisiana President Joseph Savoie says he won’t take a break between his current job and his new one.
Savoie said this week that, between the ongoing legislative session and meetings in the last week of June, his job as state commissioner of higher education will keep him busy. But he intends to be at UL on July 1 for his first day of work.
Savoie was chosen last year to replace longtime UL President Ray Authement, who is retiring after more than three decades in the job.
Savoie is a graduate of UL and worked in the university’s administration for 18 years before becoming commissioner of higher education.
