1/2 mile from Cajun Field. I haven't seen a deluge like that in a really long time.

Here is a little back ground...I lived in a rent house on Azalea for about three years. Had to move out because they sold the house and I had 30 days to move. Drove around the Saint Street area and found this house with a for sale sign on it. Inquired about it and found out they wanted $10,500 for it. Offered $9700 and they pay for the street being poured curb to curb cement. It was black top with ditches at the time. It went from 1200 sq. ft. to 2300 over the years. Now appraise at $245,000. Had a buyer about 10 years back, a professor at UL that wanted to buy it. Knocked on my door with no for sale sign in my yard and offered me $210,000. I told him I was retired and with UL sports in my back yard why would I want to move.....so no thank you. Yes, some of the homes in the past has sold for over $145,000 with two bedroom and one bath....Saint Street area was a gold mine when I purchased. I have a total of about $35,000 invested in my home. More If you count Basketball, Football, Baseball, Softball and Track.....So here I am until death do us part......My back yard was the USL farm before the sorority move in. Had all the vegetables I wanted to eat. My neighbor and I would set up lawn chairs in the back yard with cold beers and watch, some of you will remember, all those HOT PANTS, running around. Man those were the days. Still have the cold beer but the HOT PANTS disappeared..........oh well I can dream can't I....also glad to hear that I have so may RP members around the neighbor......

Man I miss those days…. I lived on Louisa right off of St. Thomas for 8 years…. The house was 2 bed 1 bath and I paid $500/month rent. The landlord never went up with rent (why, I have no idea) so I never left until I moved to Illinois. I still miss all the good times there. Really wish I would have offered to buy the house at some point, because soon after moving out, my neighbor at the time who was also renting offered and bought the house I was living in. I think he paid in the neighborhood of 75k just a few years ago, and with a little renovation that house could be worth 150+ IMO.

When I was dating my wife she lived on the second floor of a rent house on St. Louis that was owned by the Azars. Downstairs were good friends of ours. Was a neat little place and was pretty cheap.

Several years back, about 20, I tried renting the grocery store on Souvenir Gate to open a small Pup that I was going to call "Saints". With all the students in the area I think it would have been a good income. Went to city hall and inquired if it could have been done. No was the answer because it was a bar....that ended my dream of being a bar maid..........

I'm also on Azalea, look for the old grocery store looking house with the green porch light. Btw, that storm woke me out of a deep sleep, thought I was in the middle of a hurricane for about 10 mins.
