Remember rivals had us ranked #17 in the preseason baseball polls!

When's the next group coming out? I am sure we will be in that one.
I went to the bookstore today and read Landrys and Anthon College Football Mags, couldn't find Steeles which I still have from last year. They all basically say the same thing. Same old news.

I still think that FAU will take a step back. They had a nice year but came out of nowhere. Had we finished business and given them the loss at home, you wouldn't be hearing about them at all. I still think Troy is the team to beat for right now. If we can find a Defense in the next 2 months, we've got a shot at the title.

    1. Troy
    2. FAU
    3. UL
    4. MTSU
    5. ASU
    6. UL Monroe
    7. NT
    8. FIU

Cajuns come in at 97, a couple of spots ahead of MT.

Meaning that Rivals has us as the 3rd best team in the SBC, behind FAU and Troy.

    1) In '06, they won 5 of their last 8 with a bunch of Fr. and Soph. That's not coming out of nowhere.

    2) Even if we had beaten them last season, Florida Atlantic still would have the most returning starters this season.

    3) Troy has to replace every skill position on offense.

    4) If we are able to find a defense in the next 2 months, maybe we could start searching for a few other things:

    -Jimmy Hoffa
    -The Holy Grail
-An end to the 2000 year Arab/Israeli War.
    -A cure for Cancer

Being listed as 97 is a move in the right direction. When we first looked at coming to UL I think we were listed at 117. Moving up 20 slots is a great improvement...but then again its Rivals and stats and polls and all that, kinda like the election polls...........
At any rate I think that we are going in the right direction and this year could lead to great things for the Cajuns. Troy lost alot of players and we can hang with FAU. True we need to improve on the defensive side of the ball and this can and will happen. Fouq's had them going and thinking right thru spring and I do believe that the team will carry this attitude and entergy into the summer and fall.

I too, think it's a positive move. We have a good offense with senior leadership and I think the solid linebacking core will give us a boost on defense. We always have athletic guys in the secondary, which you can tell by so many getting into NFL camps, and now with some experience on the defensive scheme, we can only go up.

I'm sorry, but when you are outside of the top 80, it's just shuffling crap around. I see it as "someone sucks worse than us" in the minds of the prognosticators and that's about it. For that reason, I think nothing of our ranking except that it is time to improve things massively.

I share your hope however. Geaux Cajuns!!!

I'm indifferent to our ranking. There is no way to differentiate between #90 and #117.

Good point, either way it's no where I want to be...

You're also talking about a preseason ranking. Not one down has been played on the field and we've shown that rankings don't translate to our performance on the field like in 2006 when we were supposed to have a very nice year and disappointed after a 4-2 start and a win over Houston. The fact remains, until we go out and play better, we're not going to make any strides with this program
