    Default UL Folklorist Barry Ancelet

When we were working with the Wikipedia folks a few years ago, their chief geek told us that he knew the names of every town in Poland, but he had never heard of Lafayette LA before we had contacted him.

Later, however, he said he knew very well who Barry Ancelet was.

For those of us who see Barry around town or who have taken French or other classes with him at UL, he is a nice guy who tells good stories and promotes Cajun & Creole music.

In the world of folklore research, however, he is an international star.

The first part of his interview is the top article today:

Had an Arts & Humanities course taught by Ancelet entitled "Heroes and Villains".

I was a science major, and his class was by far the most interesting to me.

My final paper in his course was a thesis entitled, "THE ARTHURIAN LEGEND and LED ZEPPELIN: The Comparison"

    It was out there, man.

Barry is one of those guys you could sit and listen to him talk, about anything, all day.
