_ Some people need to chill with the Little Man syndrome. The point of her blog entry was not to belittle us. As Turbine said, her intentions were good. She was making the statement that what we have done with a smaller budget was impressive. Of course she wasnt entirely correct in the implication that we had to take buses because we were on a shoestring budget. I don't think that she intended that as disrespect, but rather, as a point to reinforce our image as overachievers or just a great program that can do great things with less than some of our rivals.

When people comment back on her board and yell at her to get her facts straight and saying she knows nothing about sports, thats uncalled for and over the top. Some need to lighten up and not play the little guy. The situation is what it is with the budget. Maybe that will change with Dr. S, maybe not.

So lets have some respect for peoples opinions, and if you feel that her blog was an insult, by all means, respond. But dont be as harsh and show us all to be angry fans. _

I agree 100 percent with your comments. If we take a good look in the mirror, we might just find the enemy!!!!!!!!!!!!!! People need to lighten up and realize that not everyone is out to get us. Be happy that a writer from Oklahoma thought enough about the Cajuns to write the article in the first place!!

Interesting to note on the UCS (Ultimate College Softball) board, they praised UL for its fans and for our team. But, there was discussion about our team being the only one to take a bus and about how poorly Coach Lotief dressed as the 3rd base coach and related both to the university's poor financial condition and our lack of funding for athletics. This was apparently confirmed when one of the posters said they spoke with a UL fan at the Judy Garmin Classic this year who told her the coaches had to seek outside contributions to fund the softball program. There was amazement that we were able to achieve so much with so little.

It is terrible that our program is percieved that way, but we bring that upon ourselves. That image tends to go along with a name like Louisiana Lafayette. And, Coach Lotief doesn't help with the way he dresses as a coach.

Yep, fashion police for our coaches. Heck, he can dress in overalls and a straw hat as far as I'm concerned, if he continues having success with our program.

I think you can assume he dresses that way by choice, not financial reasons. He is a practicing trial attorney, and I don't think he or Steff is in any financial difficulty. That's not do discredit the statement that all spring sports at UL (softball, baseball, track, golf, soccer, etc) have to do a large amount of fundraising to handle issues other than salaries and scholarships. I don't know how the budget breaks down, but do know they work very hard to maintain the continued excellence they've shown on the field (NCAA tournament 19 out of 20 year, with NO automatic bids).

Ok, this is bordering on paranoia. Who cares what other people write in regards to attire of our softball coaches. The writer is just being disrespectful, biased, and negative. We cannot jump to every critique given. I wouldn't trade our Softball coaches for anyone! They are awesome and so is our Softball Team.
