OKLAHOMA CITY – As the clock struck 10:27 Saturday night, a lightning delay sent the UL and Alabama softball teams off the field entering the bottom of the sixth inning at the Women’s College World Series.

The game resumed 97 minutes later, but the lightning only delayed the inevitable.

A magical season for the unseeded Ragin’ Cajuns came to an end with a 3-1 loss to No. 5 seed Alabama early Sunday in an elimination game at the Women’s College World Series.

Alabama, which eliminated two-time defending national champion Arizona with a 5-1 win on Saturday afternoon, took advantage of two Cajun errors and alert base-running to grab the lead before the delay.
